A simple guide to procrastination

There are obviously a lot of benefits to getting stuff done. Business Adviser, Sam Crugnale explains while executing can seem difficult, why you should try and find the strength to persevere and endure despite the overwhelming obstacles.

So what is the ‘stuff’ that can get in the way?
  1. Your habit of putting off starting?
  2. Constantly switching between tasks?
  3. Perfectionism?
  4. Distractions & interruptions?
  5. Fear, uncertainty, feeling overwhelmed & self-doubt?

This might feel like an overwhelming list of obstacles, however they don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.

With the above list of obstacles, there is definitely some room for improvement … this will come from focusing on the skills that you want to get better at. Let’s look at a few of them here:

  1. Picking one important thing
  2. Starting
  3. Creating a task list
  4. Stepping back and looking at the big picture
  5. Taking full responsibility & leadership
A simple program to get good at ‘GTD’

With all of the above in mind, let’s simplify things and create a five-step program for getting good at ‘Getting Things Done’:

  1. Establish a daily routine
  2. Set daily goals
  3. Focus on the task at hand
  4. Meditate/ step away during times of high stress
  5. Review: iterate & improve: find what works for you as an individual

Take action. Enjoy the process. Be mindful in the middle of the chaos of your day. And don’t forget to appreciate the day you’ve been given and take action to succeed.
